4. Start or exit Launcher

Launcher is designed to run on video walls and provide end-users with a simple method for launching products such as Canvus or Showcase. It is not designed to allow end-users to easily exit to the desktop from Launcher.

However, administrators can use a keyboard shortcut to exit from Launcher if, for example, they want to access the OS desktop. It is also possible to display an Exit tile in Launcher.

To start Launcher:

  • Ubuntu systems: Do one of the following:

    • Right-click the desktop and click Launcher in the menu.

    • Right-click the desktop and launch a terminal emulator. Then run this command:

      mt-launcher

  • Windows systems: Double-click the Launcher desktop shortcut

To subsequently exit Launcher and access the OS desktop:

Ubuntu or Windows systems: Do one of the following:

  • Click Launcher and press Ctrl+Q.

  • Tap the Exit tile (if enabled).

Note

If you installed Launcher as part of the MultiTaction base image, the Exit tile is disabled by default. To enable it, you must edit the allow-exit setting in the custom version of launcher.ini; see Edit the custom version of launcher.ini.
